GAO Security Report According to a BusinessWeek article, the Government Accountability Office found that reports of security incidents at 24 agencies have increased more than sevenfold over the past five years. “The number of incidents reported by federal agencies to Homeland Security Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) increased to 41,776 incidents in Fiscal Year 2010 from 5,503 incidents in Fiscal Year 2006. As a result, they have limited assurance that controls are in place and operating as intended to protect their information resources, thereby leaving them vulnerable to attack or compromise. |
